Small but exquisite!
With just 17 rooms, the Boutique Hotel Belle Epoque is one of the smallest hotels in the Swiss capital. This size gives our hotel a particularly personal touch. Our aim is for our guests to feel as if they are in their second home in Bern.
“Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” ― Mark Twain
This quote by Mark Twain perfectly encapsulates our philosophy: "We don't work, we have fun!" In fact, we don't call our schedule a "work plan," but a "fun plan." Ensuring that our guests enjoy their stay and leave completely satisfied is not just a job for us, but our passion.
Bern has also become a second home to our director, Dirk Raufeisen. He now feels at home here, especially within the vibrant Bern music scene. The German-born musician and hotelier combines his passions and talents at the Belle Epoque by making culture an integral part of the hotel's philosophy. Our goal is to establish the Belle Epoque as a cultural hub of the city. We regularly host events such as concerts, readings, and art exhibitions. Spontaneous jam sessions are not uncommon at our monthly regulars' table.

With a former environmental scientist (Karen) on our team, sustainability is also a key priority for us. Find out more here.
Alongside Dirk, the rest of our team has also made Bern their home: Tanja Kahya has lived in the city for over 20 years and considers Bern her home. Dirk's wife, Karen Muir, has been in Switzerland since 2005 but is relatively new to the capital and enjoys getting to know her new home better. Asha Loewenberg, who as a half-Swiss also counts Bern among her hometowns, feels at home here too.
